The Difference between Shredded Dags and Shredded Crutchings:
When a sheep has its bottom shorn to remove the build-up of poo, there is a certain about of wool that that is shorn off during this process.
When we have collected the dry dags from our sheep farmer suppliers, we bring it back to our shed and sort it into dags (the poo, with any attached wool) and crutchings (the wool/fleece with minimal poo).
Dag Mulch
Shredded Dag Wool Garden Mulch is a concentrated mix of shredded dags and the attached wool.
The Dag Mulch is a nutrient dense form of garden mulch which great for mixing in the soil or potting mix, topping vegetable gardens and placed around plants.
It will give your plants and soil a great boost of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium.
In addition to those major elements, the Shredded Dags also contain essential micro-nutrients including boron, calcium, copper, iron, magnesium, manganese, molybdenum, sulphur, and zinc.
It will also increase microbial activity, help retain moisture and regulate soil temperature.
Crutchings Mulch
Shredded Crutchings Wool Garden Mulch is a wool based mulch with minimal poo.
If you have already developed a lovely soil, then Shredded Crutchings are a great addition to mix into or top your garden, as it will give a slow release of nitrogen and sulphur, as well as increasing microbial activity, retaining moisture and regulation soil temperature.
Shredded Crutchings Wool Garden Mulch is also great for creating weed suppressant mats for larger areas. Crutchings give a cleaner look to the garden, or on top of pots and planters etc.
